Friends of the Williamstown
Botanical Gardens |
 |
Our group is in the process of
incorporating. The steering committee for this process is: Helen
Page, Geoff King, Sue and Alan Murray, Kim Sawyer, Diane
Robinson and Barbara Sloan.
Information about the gardens can be found HERE
Meetings to discuss the formation of a Friends of Williamstown Botanic Gardens
were held in the Williamstown Mechanics Institute on the 6th May and
the 10th June. Since then the
steering committee has been developing the Purposes and Rules for the group
required to register the Friends as an incorporated association.
The next step in the process is to
have the Purposes and Rules ratified by the wider group of people interested in
forming the Friends of Williamstown Botanic Gardens. A meeting to ratify the documents will be
held at the Williamstown Mechanics Institute on Monday 17 August at 7.30
pm.
For incorporation to proceed the
following matters are to be voted on:
1. A particular person is to be authorised to incorporate
the association.
2. Approve the proposed statement of Purposes.
3. Approve proposed Rules that comply with the Act.
Following the business part of the
meeting Stephen Thorpe who heads up
the Parks Department of the City of Hobsons Bay will share with the meeting his
vision for the future of the Williamstown Botanic Gardens and how he sees the
Friends of Williamstown Botanic Gardens fitting in with his vision. This should be quite exciting.
Please come to the meeting to
assist in the final steps to set up the Friends
For comparison purposes only, the aims and rules of the FRIENDS OF THE ROYAL BOTANIC
GARDENS, MELBOURNE, INCORPORATED are posted here.
